Hello, everyone!I'm 周颢臻 from Class 2105, High School. Today, the topic of our speech is "Volunteer education for public welfare, you and I go together".。
On July 15, 2022, I went to Dandelion Middle School, Daxing District, Beijing, to carry out a 10-day offline volunteer teaching activity with the Fuzhiark support Teaching Group of Tsinghua Affiliated High School。Although ten days is not enough for me to fully understand them and enter them, in this process, we and the dandelion children accompany each other and grow together。They learned a lot more and saw a lot of interesting experiments;In the course of preparing and lecturing every day, our understanding of knowledge is deepening and our ability to express is also improving。Therefore, in my opinion, volunteer teaching is more a process of joint efforts and common benefits of both parties, rather than the giving of one party and the passive acceptance of the other。Next, I will share my volunteer teaching experience from two aspects。
The first is the curriculum。In this activity, I am responsible for the music class and the philosophy class。The theme of the philosophy class is the plants around, and I am responsible for introducing them, so that students not only look at the plants around them from the two points of "can eat and see", but also pay attention to their characteristics and the connotation that people give them according to these characteristics。In this process, I found that many students have their own unique ideas but sometimes do not dare to express them。I encouraged them to speak。In the final debate session, when I saw a child arguing and convincing others that chili is the best plant from multiple angles, my heart was filled with sudden relief and pride, perhaps the satisfaction of seeing their efforts paid off, or the happiness of seeing their progress and growth。It is true that a slogan of Dandelion Middle School was quoted in the lecture at that time, "We are happy, confident, brave and sunny dandelions.。The active speech in class, the comity and economy at dinner, the sweat on the playground...I was deeply moved by their thirst for knowledge and love for life。
The second is life。The teachers and students here will give the volunteers the utmost kindness。Walking on campus, every student will be very serious to us said: "Teacher hello!"Will enthusiastically take us around the campus, tell us where the water fountain is, where the canteen is, from the classroom to the dormitory which way is the most time saving and so on...One of the things that impressed me most happened when we were about to leave school。Two kids wanted me to collect the signatures of all our volunteers as a souvenir。When I returned to the school gate after running all over the campus, I found that they were not there。I was so worried that they'd left because they'd waited too long for me。After a while, I saw two people together with a big bottle of Coke, smiling, thin body stride forward in the bright sun, and said to me: "This is what we bought for all the volunteers, these days we are really very happy.。At that moment I was once again touched by the kindness of the children here。
The relationship between Dandelion Middle School and Tsinghua High School has been continuing and inheriting。From the first time the Tsinghua Affiliated High School volunteer team came to Dandelion in 2019, to the second time we went to Dandelion in 2022, there were online meetings because of the epidemic, and there were unique experiences of children from Dandelion Middle School coming to Tsinghua Affiliated High School to participate in summer camp。The inheritance is still continuing, and we look forward to having more people join us to write our volunteer teaching stories together and carry out more forms of volunteer service activities together!
